"Is today the day of the mom's tea?"...

To feel the love of your child is truly a gift from God. This little poem was all set up of course by John's preschool teacher, but it is truly the way his heart expresses itself to me at this time in his life. John had "mom's day" at his school this week and he was just so precious. He was so excited to serve me and sit with me and talk with me. His begged and begged his teacher constantly if his "mama" could open her present. He was just tickled with excitement. I was not alone in the room to say the least when tears welled up in my eyes when I read this little poem. I just loved this because it frames what I ask him so often to promise me will never change....that even when he grows up, he will still be my first little boy who loves me "with his WHOLE HEART!" (that is what he has said to me when he goes to bed each night since he was old enough to talk) John is a boy whose love language is so heavy weighted in "time" that it can be hard to keep him satisfied. Even in my floundering, he is persistent and so forgiving and his little eyes just twinkle when he experiences special time with just about anyone. Because he is with me so much, the majority of his focus is on me and it so fills my heart when I stop to process the size of his heart. I know his focus will change as he grows, and that is a good thing of course, but for now I am going to make sure I embrace every moment I get of his great big eyes looking at me with such adoration. I hope he knows and feels the greatness of his mother's love for him too.
